Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Pelvic floor physical therapy treats dysfunctions in the pelvis that contribute to bowel, bladder, sexual health, and pain complaints. Pelvic floor physical therapy is very similar to other forms of physical therapy. A physical therapist must first perform an evaluation to detect any significant impairments associated with the condition. This includes the examination of the low back, external pelvis, and hips. Since the pelvic floor can only be directly palpated internally, an internal examination can provide useful information to the physical therapist. This will only be performed if the patient gives consent. The physical therapist then provides different forms of treatment to address each impairment found during the evaluation. At Core Connection Physical Therapy, we offer women’s pelvic floor physical therapy, and men’s pelvic floor physical therapy in St Augustine, FL.
